In recent years, many companies in the industrial sector have been embracing the trend of outsourcing part of their activities and production processes. This phenomenon is driven by the need to reduce costs, increase operational efficiency, and access specialized expertise. Outsourcing, supply chain management, and production relocation have become key elements in maintaining competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic and complex global market.
In this context, Tecno System stands out as a strategic partner, offering innovative solutions and comprehensive support to successfully tackle these challenges. We discussed this with Giorgio Floia, an expert in the electronics market and management consultant for the Piedmont-based company.
What technological trends do you see in the industrial sector, and what kind of developments do you expect in the future?
As explained by Floia, technological trends in the electronics market vary significantly depending on the application sectors. Here are some of the trends driving the market:
- Automotive: The main trend is towards the electrification of vehicles, with a growing focus on electric vehicle infrastructure such as charging stations. Currently, there has been a setback and almost a counter-trend in demand, but in the medium to long term, the world is moving in this direction.
- Railway: This sector is experiencing significant growth thanks to infrastructure projects driven by the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) and other modernization initiatives. In Italy, and not only. In some countries, such as India, infrastructures are not to be modernized but to be built from scratch, offering even more significant opportunities.
- Avionic and Military: The avionic/military sector is very interesting due to the current difficult geopolitical situation. The space sector also has diversified projects and opportunities, such as the control of systems and equipment for satellite telecommunications, Earth observation, space exploration and navigation, and orbital infrastructures.
- Industry: There is a growing need to streamline production processes, optimize costs and resources, and integrate highly complex systems, such as embedded systems, which require careful management and highly specialized skills.
- Medical: There is growing interest in telemedicine and remote medical devices, especially in response to the shortage of doctors in hospitals and the difficulty of traveling between clinics. This sector offers significant opportunities, although requests are currently mostly coming from abroad.
What challenges do your clients mainly face in this market? What are their needs?
Our clients face numerous challenges in the market that can be summarized into some common points:
- Outsourcing and Cost Optimization: Increasingly, clients are opting to outsource part of their production or even the entire production of their electronic devices to reduce operational costs. This requires efficient supply chain management and a strong ability to adapt to market demands.
- Supply Chain Management: Many market players need to simplify their supply chain management. To achieve this, companies require specific support to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Innovation and Customization: Clients need customized solutions. Tecno System offers robust support in research and development for solution customization, with its own Design and Competence Center. This helps clients maintain a competitive advantage in the market.
- Relocation: Many companies seek new business opportunities in other countries, such as the Maghreb region or India. The challenge is that in many of these countries, having a local production plant is necessary to access funding or government contracts.
- Board Repair: Some companies still need reworking and repair services for electronic boards, sometimes out of production.
Given the problems encountered by clients in the market, what solutions can you offer or are you already offering?
“Our strength lies in providing comprehensive support to clients,” explained Giorgio Floia, “from design to the realization of the finished product. In the face of increased outsourcing of services and production processes, Tecno System represents a single interlocutor that can accompany any company in its growth through complete production support.
This includes supply chain management and support in purchasing materials and boards. It becomes an opportunity for the client to modernize their technologies while reducing the BOM (Bill of Materials) costs, which can become unsustainable over the years.“
“Thanks to our flexibility, we can quickly adapt to clients’ needs,” Floia continued, “supporting even small businesses and startups in developing prototypes and small-scale production. We strongly believe in startups and niche markets where it is possible to create added value through innovative solutions.“
Among the competitive advantages that Tecno System can offer is the company’s long-standing presence, active since 1990, with ownership that holds the majority of all production sites. This allows for a quick decision-making process and deep market knowledge, fundamental elements for offering customized solutions.
Additionally, the presence of a dedicated research and development department provides a customization service to adapt solutions to the specific needs of each project, allowing us to respond to market trends and offer ever-innovative products.
“Another advantage is our international presence with production sites in Italy, India, and Tunisia,” Floia explained, “each with its own specifities. We are among the few Italian EMS companies to offer this type of opportunity, allowing us to support clients who wish to move production, leveraging the peculiarities of each plant. For example, Tunisia has a strong connection with the Maghreb market, while India represents a new frontier for on-site production, promoting the ‘Made in India’ concept. This global network allows us to offer significant support to our clients, facilitating their expansion and production optimization.
With these solutions, Tecno System is committed to supporting clients in overcoming the challenges of the industrial market, improving efficiency, reducing costs, and promoting innovation.
